USAT AAC

Hello all,
At the July 28th board meeting, we are discussing a resolution to
rotate various national championship events. Note- elite triathlon
nationals is NOT part of this schedule. However, collegiate
nationals and an event (probably with ITU points) in The Haul to the
Great Wall Elite Race Series will be included. It's unclear whether
we will have elite duathlon nationals with the age group duathlon
nationals event mentioned below.
Please let us know your thoughts on this resolution.

Subject: Venue Selection and Rotation of Events

Financial Impact: Travel and lodging expense for at least one
additional site evaluation.
Relevant and Affected Bylaws, Rules, and Procedures

Article IV, Section 1.e.
Article VI, Section 6.a.
Rules - None

Whereas choices of top-quality venues for USA Triathlon's most
prestigious events are limited, and
Whereas it is in the best interest of athletes who compete at these
events every year to experience a variety of venues, and
Whereas it is in the best interest of athletes who compete at these
events only when geographically convenient to hold them in different
parts of the country on a regular, cyclical basis,
Now therefore be it resolved:

A) USAT shall own and produce three events which will rotate among
three geographical regions: West, Mid and East. Each year the races
will rotate to the host site located in that region, guaranteeing
each host site an event over the next three years. After the three
year commitment, each host site will be evaluated and extended an
extension if deemed necessary.

Schedule of Events, Beginning in 2006:
WEST
- 2006 National Age Group Championship, Youth National Championship
& The Haul to the Great Wall Elite Race Series
- 2007 Duathlon National Championship & Duathlon World Qualifying
Event
- 2008 Collegiate National Championship

MID
- 2006 Duathlon National Championship & Duathlon World Qualifying
Event
-2007 Collegiate National Championship
- 2008 National Age Group Championship, Youth National Championship
& The Haul to the Great Wall Elite Race Series

EAST
- 2006 Collegiate National Championship & Triathlon World
Qualifying Event
- 2007 National Age Group Championship, Youth National Championship
& The Haul to the Great Wall Elite Race Series
- 2008 Duathlon National Championship & Duathlon World Qualifying
Event

B) USA Triathlon will work with host sites to adhere as closely
as possible to the following time frames for 2006 and beyond:

Collegiate National Championship & World Qualifying Event:
Late April (2006 April 22-23)

Duathlon National Championship & Duathlon World Qualifying Event:
Late May - Early June (2006 June 3-4)

National Age Group Championship, Youth National Championship & The
Haul to the Great Wall Elite Race Series:
Mid September (2006 September 16-17)
