[e-litebeat] Pro National Coverage

I see a serious problem with the media coverage of Pro Nationals this
year. How can we expect to grow as a professional sport, when our
national championship doesn't even get a write-up on USAT's website?

A day after the race, USAT put up the results, in sentence form. No
story. No Potts (McLarty) led after the swim. No there were 6 guys
on the break (I dont know if there were 6, because there was no
story). Nothing.

The only news article I could find on the web was a local paper.
That's weak.

How can we expect even a small write-up by sports illustrated or espn
or NBC Sports, if our own website doesn't have any coverage?

[e-litebeat] Supplemental Insurance - Travel

Hi all,

Below is some information for obtaining supplemental health/medical
insurance for traveling abroad. You may also want to share this
information with your fellow athlete friends or folks you coach as
well.

The company is "International Heath Insurance"
The info is from Frank West of Frank West Insurnace.
frank@frankwestinsurance.com

"I found a company that will protect and cover you for medical
expenses up to $300,000 worldwide which includes sports activities.
The plan does not cover pre-exisiting medical condition, however, the
policy provides reimbursement for both illness and accidents. This
coverage is common for US athletes playing Euro basketball and other
sports, etc."

Contact Frank for applications and brochures.
Please let him know that I referred you.
Frank is very thorough, timely and professional.

5430 - decent prize purse (could be improved if given national
status), two loop bike and two loop run course so more spectator
friendly.

Resident Team Information Posted

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 2, 2005) – Qualifications and the
application process for the 2006 U.S. Resident and Emerging Athlete
Programs for triathletes at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in
Colorado Springs, Colo., are now posted at
www.usatriathlon.org/ElitesNew/2006_Resident_Team_QualifyingCriteria.
pdf.

USA Triathlon's Resident Program is an elite athlete performance-
based program that allows selected athletes to live and train at the
Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The primary purpose of
the program is to provide a professional, supportive atmosphere to
assist athletes in achieving optimal results at the highest levels
of international triathlon competition.

The Emerging Athlete Resident Program (EARP) is the developmental
component of the Resident Program, and is primarily designed to
allow junior, under 23, and emerging senior athletes to develop the
skills, fitness, and experiences necessary to achieve domestic and
international competitive success.

The focus of both the Resident Program and Emerging Athlete Program
is to prepare athletes to compete in the International Triathlon
Union (ITU) style (draft legal) of triathlon competition (1.5k swim,
40k bike, 10k run) under the guidelines established by the ITU.

[e-litebeat] Medical Insurance - International Travel Coverage

Hi all,

I started researching short term medical insurance for traveling
internationally. After consulting an insurance agent and was given
some leads, I found that participating in athletic events
(professional OR amateur) is often in the exclusionary clause. In
other words, no coverage. I have asked the insurance agent for
another option and should get that tommorow. If it holds water I
will share it with the list. In the meantime, does anyone have any
leads for medical insurance of this type? What do you use?

Thanks!
Kind regards,
Rachel
